Tempe Leadership Class XXV would like to thank the community for all their support. We exceeded our fundraising goal of $25,000 by $6,000. The additional funding will be used for operations and ongoing maintenance of the mobile shower trailer.





We would like to thank all the individuals who donated either through the Working Poor Tax Credit or by purchasing raffle tickets. We would also like to thank Whole Foods Market, Phoenix Suns, D.P. Electric, Inc., Gracie's Thrift, Dave's Electric Brew Pub, Caliente Construction, Inc., Missio Dei Communities, APS, SRP and Representative Harry Mitchell for their monetary or in-kind donations. This project would not be possible without the support of the community. We are very thankful.





Class XXV would like to give special recognition to the Dial Corporation. They provided the dollar amount needed to exceed our fundraising goal and they will be providing the hygiene products for the showers, and even towels. Dial is also wrapping the trailer and has made a long time commitment to sustaining Shower Power as a community amenity. Their commitment to Shower Power is greatly appreciated.

The annual Recruitment Reception was a huge success drawing several potential Class XXVI participants.  Contact Tempe Leadership if you are interested in applying.  Michael got a chance to update everyone on Shower Power and the current raffles.

Tickets are now available that will enter you in 2 raffles for a mere $5 each, or 5 for $20.  Yes, each ticket has 2 chances to win.  Shower Power has had donated 2 13th row tickets to a Suns game ( $300 value), and a signed Grant Hill Suns jersey($250 value).  For details and to order tickets, please contact any class member, use the contacts on the site, or email info@showerpower.org.  Hurry - the first drawing is coming up soon, and the final drawing is March 31st.

We had a fantastic Economic Sustainability Issue Day.  It was a 2-part day.  We started at Historic Hatton Hall where we heard from a number of Tempe City representatives.
 
First we heard from Sheri Wakefield-Saenz from Economic Development.
 
Chris Messer discussed Community Redevelopment.
 

Joe Nucci covered Historic Preservation.
 

And Assistant City Manager Jeff Kulaga addressed Sustainable Development Practices in his inimitable way.
We then shifted location and focus.  We made our way to Changing Hands Bookstore, where we were treated to a tour of the store, and a panel discussion focused on small businesses.  We were fortunate to have a lively and informative panel.
